A 72-year-old man, who was declared dead by a hospital in Madhya Pradesh, was found to be alive after he spent an entire night in the mortuary. The ‘body’ of Kashiram came back to life while he was being sent for postmortem.
The doctors soon resumed Kashiram’s treatment. He, however, died at 10:20 am at the hospital the following morning.
The bizarre incident took place at the Bina Civil Hospital in the state’s Sagar district on Thursday, 20 June. Kashiram was admitted after he was found lying unconscious on the road.
The police received information around 9 pm on Thursday about Kashiram’s ‘death’.
We had received a call in the night that a patient had died in the hospital. However, the person was alive when we went to the hospital for postmortem. Soon, we informed the doctor on duty and he informed that the patient is still alive.Vikram Singh, ASP, Sagar
“The on-duty doctor was informed about it, who also confirmed that the elderly man was still alive, after which his medical treatment was resumed. However, the old man died at 10:20 am, which was again intimated to the police station," he told NDTV.
Dr RS Roshan, chief medical officer, told NDTV that the negligence done by the doctor will be investigated. “We have instituted an inquiry against the doctor who issued the memo," he said.
