Bengaluru Police have intensified the search for four students and a teaching staff of Dayanada Sagar College of Engineering in RR Nagar, after videos of an 18-year-old engineering student being bullied surfaced on Thursday.

The videos emerge a day after C Meghana, the girl who was bullied in the videos, committed suicide.

One of the videos show a group of 8-10 student, surrounding Meghana in the college campus, heckling, abusing and bullying her. Senior police officers said that they are going through videos and will incorporate them as evidence in the case.

Eighteen-year-old Meghana was found hanging from a ceiling fan by her mother at their Channasandra residence, on Wednesday. She is survived by her banker-parents, Chandrashekar and Lata.

Although no suicide note was left behind by the girl, her mother Lata Chandrashekar lodged a police complaint accusing four classmates of Meghna and a course coordinator in college to be responsible for her daughter’s suicide.

She alleged that Meghana was harassed for contesting in the class representative election against one of the students mentioned in the complaint. When she raised the complaint with the coordinator for the elections, he ignored her complaint, her mother alleged.

Based on this complaint, police had registered a case of abatement to suicide. RR Nagar police officers said since the complaint was filed, the coordinator and the four students have not come to the college. Their mobile phones have been switched off as well.
