A case of alleged mob lynching in Rajasthan’s Chopanki has come up, with a Dalit man being claimed as the victim.

According to reports, the incident happened after a road accident in the region. Initial reports have suggested that the victim was riding a two-wheeler when he rammed into an elderly woman. He was then allegedly beaten up by a group of people that led to his death.

The reports, however, are unclear as of now, since the SP of the region, while talking to the media has ruled out any incident of mob lynching till the time the post mortem report of the deceased comes.

According to the police, the incident happened on 16 July on the road between Bhiwadi and Chopanki. He said that a lady was crossing the road when the motorcyclist rammed his bike into her.

He said that the police van stationed in the area took both to the nearest hospital. The biker was moved to Delhi's Safdarjung hospital in a serious condition.

When both the parties filed their respective cases with the police, the woman's husband filed a case of accident while the Dalit man's father alleged that his son was beaten to death by a mob.

Although the SP said that a case under Article 330 and 341 has been filed, there is nothing in the initial reports that hint at a mob lynching incident.

The SP further said that the matter will be more clear once the post mortem reports are out.
