1. Cop Blackmails, Rapes Colleague; Absconding

A police constable has been booked by officers from the Parksite police station for allegedly raping a female constable after threatening to show a selfie he had taken of them to her husband. He is currently absconding.

The constable, attached with the local arms division, had met the woman constable a few months ago and became friends with her, the complainant stated.

One day, he took a selfie with the woman constable and later, threatened he would send it to her husband if she did not perform sexual favours.

He allegedly took the constable to his home in Kanjurmarg and later, to a lodge in Shahad and raped her.

2. After Rajkot Ban, Police Arrest 10 for Playing PUBG

A week after it issued a notification banning the popular multiplayer mobile game PUBG, the Rajkot police have arrested 10 people, six of them undergraduate students, for playing the game in the last two days.

Police Commissioner Manoj Agrawal, who had banned the game in the city in a 6 March notification, said 12 cases have been registered so far.

“But it is a bailable offence. People have been booked but there is nothing like arrest in it. In the procedure, they will be shown as immediately bailed out by police. The case will go to the courts and there will be a trial for not following the notification issued,” he told The Indian Express.

3. Man Held for Raping Differently Abled Woman in Bhiwandi

The Bhiwandi police on Tuesday arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly raping his 26-year-old differently abled neighbour. The incident took place in Bhiwandi (rural) on Monday.

According to the complaint, which was filed by the survivor’s family, the woman was returning home after finishing her chores when the accused saw her in their neighbourhood. He groped her and forced himself on her.

The complainant tried to escape, but he hit her. He raped her and threatened her against telling anybody, police said.

On reaching home, the complainant started crying and told her family what had happened.

4. Delhi Man Held for Raping Minor, Police Say His Teacher Friend Helped

A 55-year-old man was arrested after a minor girl alleged he raped her. Police also arrested his woman friend, a teacher in Gurugram, after the girl alleged that she told the woman about the incident but was asked not to tell anyone.

“The man, who runs a travel business in south Delhi, and the woman were sent to 14-day judicial custody on Tuesday,” a police officer said.

The girl had been living with her uncle after her mother’s death. “Her uncle used to work for a woman. The girl, along with her cousins, would go with her uncle to his employer’s house to play. It was there that she met the accused, the employer’s son. On finding her alone at the house one day, he allegedly molested her,” police said.

5. Techie Dupes Over 1,000 People With Offer to Install Cell Towers

Sanjay Kumar wanted to make it big through a startup of his own, but was short of cash. So, this 28-year-old – who had earlier worked as a tech executive with several multinational companies – hatched a plot to earn some easy money.

And by the time his little scheme was busted, Kumar and his friends had already duped over 1,000 people across the country, all by launching a website that offered to install mobile towers on private property.

Kumar was nabbed on Tuesday, along with his aides, Arjun Prasad and Santosh Kumar, from their offices in Faridabad, Manesar and Nalanda in Bihar after multiple raids.

6. Collection Agent Abducted, Murdered for ₹12 Lakh, One Nabbed

One of two youths, who allegedly kidnapped the employee of a Mulund businessman and killed him before robbing him of Rs 12 lakh, has been arrested.

Mulund and Narpoli police in Bhiwandi arrested Dinesh Saroj (33), a resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar, Mulund. His accomplice, Sunil Yadav (27), is absconding.

Prasad Tiwari (37), a cash collector at Deepak Sanghvi’s plastic granule manufacturing unit in Mulund, is survived by his wife and aged parents, who reside at Pokharan Road, Thane.

“Tiwari, who used to collect Rs 5-8 lakh at weekends, went missing on 6 March. His employer told us that he had collected around Rs 8 lakh,” said sub-inspector PM Bhalerao.

7. Locals Chase 2 Foreigners Spotted Tampering With ATM, One Caught

There was high drama in northeast Delhi’s Maujpur on Tuesday night when two foreigners were being chased by locals. While one of them was overpowered and nabbed, his associate managed to escape.

The two Romanians had been seen tampering with an ATM in the area. They are believed to be part of a bigger nexus suspected to be behind multiple incidents of skimming of cards at ATMs across the country.

DCP (northeast) Atul Kumar Thakur said that the arrested man, Isfan Iustin Georgel (27), has been booked under the IPC section of cheating and under Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

8. ‘Couple’ Extort ₹12 Lakh From 60-Year-Old, Booked

The Andheri police recently booked an unidentified ‘couple’ for allegedly extorting ₹12 lakh from a 60-year-old woman by threatening to leak obscene photos and videos of her.

According to the complainant, she received a friend request from the accused on social media in January 2018. The complainant accepted the request. A few months later, the accused started flirting with her and asked her to send him nude photos and videos of her. Although she refused at first, she later sent him the photos and videos.

In November 2018, the complainant received a call from a woman claiming to be the accused’s wife and threatened her with the nude photos. Between November 2018 and February, the victim transferred ₹12 lakh to them. However, after they kept demanding money, a complaint was filed on 6 March.

9. CP Eatery Steward Held for Cloning Customers’ Cards

A steward of a well-known restaurant in Connaught Place has been arrested for skimming ATM cards of more than a dozen customers and illegally withdrawing large sums of money from their accounts. The fraud came to light when a bank approached the police after a complaint by a few of its customers.

The accused, Pankaj Chaudhary, would swipe the card twice, once in the POS machine and a second time in the skimmer, while billing the customers. The data would be copied on a memory chip fitted in the device. He would also note down the last four digits of the card, PIN and bank name.

He would later hand over the chip to his associate, Rahul, who would copy the information on a blank plastic card and give it back to Chaudhary.
