1. Two Girls Arrested For Filing Fake Rape Complaint to Extort Rs 2 Lakh From Youth
Two girls were arrested on Friday for filing false rape charges against a 25-year-old youth in an attempt to extort Rs 2 lakh from him. Police said that it could just be the tip of an iceberg, as preliminary investigations have revealed that the girls could be part of a bigger racket to trap men in order to extract money. The accused, Neha Gupta (24) and Safia (22), were sent to jail later in the day.
“There were discrepancies in their complaint. On questioning, the girls confessed that it was a fake case. We booked them under sections 420 (cheating) and 389 (putting person in fear of accusation),” said Dharmendra Kumar, station house officer (SHO) of Prem Nagar police station.

2. Stalker Slits Teen’s Throat Outside College in Chennai After Asking Her to Marry Him
A student was stabbed to death by a stalker near the entrance of her college in KK Nagar in south Chennai on Friday afternoon, highlighting a pernicious trend in which at least four women have been killed by stalkers in Tamil Nadu since June 2016.
According to the police, 19-year-old M Aswini, a first-year B.Com student at the Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, was walking towards the bus stop around 2:45 pm when the accused, Alagesan (26), attacked her with a dagger. The man slit her throat, killing her instantly.

3. Central Govt Staffer Booked for Raping Colleague
The Bund Garden police on Thursday registered an offence against a central government employee for raping his 47-year-old colleague for over seven years, first promising marriage and then threatening to post her obscene photographs and clips on the social media.
The woman approached the police when the suspect started threatening her to make her obscene photographs and video clips viral. “We have booked the suspect under sections 376 (rape) and 377 (unnatural offence) of IPC, and the relevant sections of the Information and Technology Act,” said an officer of the Bund Garden police.

4. Delhi: E-Rickshaw Driver Held, Minor Apprehended for Cook’s Murder
An argument that erupted over a collision of shoulders between two men eventually led to the murder of 35-year-old cook in south Delhi’s Alaknanda on Sunday, police officials said.
The police said Dashrath Mukhiya was stabbed to death by two men after an argument late in the night on 4 March. A 21-year-old e-rickshaw driver Sunny, alias Peeri, was arrested and a 17-year-old boy was apprehended in connection with Mukhiya’s murder on Friday, police officials said.
The two accused reportedly told the police that they killed Mukhiya because his shoulder had allegedly collided with that of the 17-year-old boy. The collision led to an argument between the two sides and the duo allegedly stabbed Mukhiya twice in his chest, the police said.

5. Nawazuddin Siddiqui Summoned by Thane Cops in Call Detail Record Scam
The Thane police on Friday said that they had summoned actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, his wife and a lawyer in connection with investigations into the Call Detail Record (CDR) scam that was unearthed in January.
Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Abhishek Trimukhi told mediapersons that the three had been called after some of the arrested accused had told police that an advocate had obtained CDRs of the actor’s wife from private detectives.
“Three arrested accused, Prasad Palekar, Ajinkya Nagargoje and Jigar Makhwana informed the police that an advocate had obtained the CDRs of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife from private detectives. Hence to verify the same, we have summoned them,” Trimukhi said.

6. Noida: Police Look at Call Records, CCTV for Leads On BHEL Official’s Murder
On Wednesday evening, Shweta Pandey was talking to her elder brother when there was some disturbance over the phone, and the call got disconnected. “He wanted to speak to my two-year-old daughter, and said that he will video call on my number in 15-20 minutes after he reaches home,” Shweta said.
Around 3.30 pm on Thursday, the body of her elder brother, Amit Pandey (41), was found near his residence in Noida’s Sector 104 with a gunshot injury to his neck. “He died due to the bullet injury. The incident occurred between 8.30 pm and 9 pm, as per the post-mortem report. We are looking at CCTV footage, phone detail records and other evidence to ascertain the sequence of events, and those behind the murder,” said Avnish Dixit, SHO, Sector 39 police station.

7. MP: 9-Year-Old Girl Raped Inside Mall on International Women’s Day
A nine-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a gaming zone employee at an upscale mall here on the International Women’s Day yesterday, the police said.
“Arjun Rathore (19) took the victim to a corner in the Treasure Island mall on Mahatma Gandhi Road, when she was playing in the gaming zone, and raped her,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Indore, Harinarayanchari Mishra said, adding that the accused was arrested.
The victim had gone to the mall with her family members, the officer said, adding that after the alleged incident, she narrated her ordeal to her mother.

8. Uttar Pradesh: Man Kills Wife, 2 Daughters Over Suspected Affair
A man allegedly killed his wife and two minor daughters in village Chakla Guru Baba under Karvi police station in Chitrakoot district in wee hours of Friday. He later surrendered before the police and confessed to the crime.
The police have arrested Ajeet Raidas, the accused. The deceased have been identified as Maina Devi (32) and her two daughters Nandini (8) and Pinki (6).
SP, Chitrakoot, Pratap Gopendra told TOI, “Ajeet killed his wife on suspicion of her having an illicit relationship with a grocery shop owner”. Ajeet runs a small shop in the village, he added.

9. ATM Thefts Suspect Flees Custody, 2 Cops Suspended
A suspect nabbed in connection with the recent spree of ATM thefts in the city, fled from the Bilaspur crime unit on Friday on the pretext of going to the toilet after pushing one of the two on-duty cops out of his way.
The two cops have been suspended for negligence and a departmental inquiry has been launched against them. A fresh FIR has been registered against the accused and a manhunt has been launched to arrest him.
Shahid alias Advani, who is nearly 30 years old and is from Kharkhari village of Tauru area in Mewat, was arrested last Monday from his village and taken into police custody.
