Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu plans to distribute Swift Dzire cars to unemployed Brahmin youth ahead of the elections, through a subsidised scheme.
In the first phase of the self-employment programme, 50 cars have been sanctioned on Friday.
The Brahmin Welfare Corporation will provide a maximum of Rs 2 lakh as subsidy and the beneficiary has to bear 10 per cent of the cost of the vehicle and remaining amount will be provided by the AP Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society as loan repayable in monthly installments.
Corporation chairman Vemuri Anand Surya has said that so far around 1.5 lakh persons have been benefited by the Brahmin corporation, reported India Today.
Naidu had also promised that Andhra Pradesh government will distribute 14 million smart phones.
He had said that he will distribute a smart phone to each household "to provide knowledge at the doorstep of the common man," reported The Economic Times.
Assembly Elections are due to be held in Andhra Pradesh in 2019 to constitute the fifteenth Legislative Assembly. These elections will be held along with the 2019 general elections.
