On Wednesday, 17 July, A muslim cleric has been arrested from the Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh, on the charges of molesting a 9-year-old.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Ahmed, taught the victim the Holy Quran and Urdu at her house. He threatened her with severe consequences if she revealed her abuse, reported The Indian Express.
The complaint was lodged on Tuesday, 16 July, after the mother learnt about the incident.

Case Registered Under POCSO Act
The charges levelled against the accused are under Section 376 and 506 of the IPC and under Clause 3/4 of the POCSO Act.
Many sources claim that Ahmed has confessed to the crime, mentioning that he molested the girl four to five times, according to The Indian Express.
Officials from the university have clarified that Ahmed was only employed on a temporary basis while the Imam was on leave. They have removed him from the post after the incident.
