The Valasaravakkam police on Thursday arrested a 25-year-old musician who was allegedly growing ganja plants on his rented terrace.

Police seized the plants in the house, Valasaravakkam ACP Anand Kumar told the New Indian Express, “He had the habit of throwing the seeds into a flower pot kept outside the toilet. These seeds sprouted and began growing.”

Police said that Abhishek had rented both the portions in the second floor for the past one year, which is part of the terrace. This floor was being used as an accommodation for his employees working at Candle Light Music Studios. He had rented the house from his aunt, choreographer Lalitha Mani.

Moreover, the police had raided the residence on Wednesday afternoon, acting on a tip-off and took three people into custody. Later, they confessed that Abhishek grew these plants. There were about five plants in a huge flower pot, all with a height of 3 feet.

The police claimed that the youth was a regular ganja user which he sourced through his contacts.

Earlier, the neighbours had complained of ganja smoke which went inside the buildings through the outdoor unit of AC fitted on the terrace. But, they were shocked to know that he grew ganja plants on the terrace.
