In a textbook case of corporal punishment, CCTV footage from Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh shows a second grade student being slapped, punched and beaten with a shoe by his tuition teacher.
The video came to light on 15 November, when the boy complained to his parents that he had been beaten by his tuition teacher. The boy spoke about the incident after being asked about bruises all over his body, ANI reported.
His parents then watched the CCTV recording of their son being beaten, following which they reached out to the police. A case has been registered against the teacher and attempts are being made to track him down, the report added.
“The video has been recovered. A case has been registered and a team has been formed to nab the teacher.”Ashutosh Dwivedi, Superintendent of Police (Crime)
In the five-minute video, the teacher, seated next to the student, is reportedly seen carrying a shoe in his hand. He even hits the student on his knuckles, with a sharp object. The teacher is also seen grabbing the boy’s hair and ear and delivering a few punches on his back, the report added.
After thrashing the boy, the teacher can be seen offering him a glass of water to drink, and asking him to smile.
