The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday, 3 October, filed a charge sheet in a Delhi Court, accusing three men of gang-raping a women from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh in 2017.
The accused mentioned in the charge sheet are Naresh Tiwari, Brijesh Yadav Singh and Shubham Singh. All three are currently out on bail.
According to the CBI chargesheet, the three accused had kidnapped and raped the woman on 11 June 2017, a week after she was reportedly raped by the former Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar on 4 June 2017.
The court listed the case for 10 October after CBI sought time to file additional documents and a list of witnesses to be examined.
Shubham is the son of Shashi Singh, who had allegedly lured the woman to the MLA’s residence on 4 June.
Sengar is currently in Sitapur jail, awaiting trial. The woman, who was critically injured in the car crash, was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on 25 September.
After the high court's order, her family has also been given CRPF cover. The Uttar Pradesh government said that the survivor, who thinks that living in her hometown might be dangerous, will live with her family in the national capital.
