A man allegedly raped a 20-year-old Canadian national whom he met at a pub in south Delhi's Hauz Khas area, the police said on Wednesday, 27 June.
The accused, identified as Abhishek, has been arrested and was produced before a magistrate. Deputy Commissioner of Police, South, Romil Baaniya said the Canadian High Commission in Delhi was informed of the incident, reported IANS.
25-year-old Abhishek, who reportedly works as a manager of a guest house in east Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar according to Hindustan Times, befriended the woman at a pub in Hauz Khas Village, where she had gone with her friends on Tuesday night.
According to the police, Abhishek invited the woman to his guest house and took her there at around 12:30 am, where he attacked her.
The woman made a complaint to police after reaching AIIMS and later gave a written complaint, PTI cited an official as saying.
According to the woman’s statement, the accused raped her at the guest house. The woman somehow managed to escape and took a cab and called her friend who advised her to reach AIIMS and call the police.Investigator in the case, as quoted by Hindustan Times
A case has been registered in this regard, the police said.
