In a major Cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi axed Smriti Irani, India’s Human Resources Minister, and handed her the Textiles Ministry.
The news set the rumour mills buzzing with theories of what could have caused the so-called demotion. But amid all the speculation, Irani came out looking calm and composed. On Wednesday afternoon, she took to Twitter to inform her followers that she had congratulated incoming HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar.
She then recalled her time in the HRD ministry – and thanked Prime Minister Modi.
Looking Ahead to the New Challenge
In the same series of tweets, Irani wrote that she was looking forward to her work in the Textile Ministry.
