On August 11, The Quint broke the story of RK Pachauri’s sham dismissal from TERI. We also published a copy of the letter written by the harassment survivor to the Prime Minister, shared exclusively with The Quint.

Pachauri has now moved an application with a district court in Delhi seeking permission to travel abroad to attend business meetings and to deliver a lecture on climate change. The matter comes up for hearing tomorrow.

He has sought permission to travel from 21 August to 1 September this year. On 21 March 2015, Pachauri was granted interim bail by the sessions court on the conditions that he would not leave the country without prior permission of the court till the investigation is over.

Pachauri has been invited by the Director, International Ecosystem Management Partnership, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to come to China. He has produced an invitation from the Institute of Global Environment Strategies in Japan to sign an MoU with Ubrain TV on behalf of TERI. Interestingly, the invitation from Japan dated 12 August ends with, “We are looking forward to welcoming you both”.

RK Pachauri has been held guilty by the Internal Complaints Committee for sexual harassment of an employee at TERI and there is an ongoing lawsuit against him.
