A Gurgaon resident who recently purchased an iPhone 6 has claimed that the handset blew up while he was still on call. And while the user escaped without sustaining any injuries, it was all thanks to the fact that he was using a bluetooth handsfree device and didn’t actually have the iPhone next to his ear.
According to reports, the incident happened on June 20, however, it only came to light three days later when the user, Kishan Yadav, who happens to be a restaurateur in Gurgaon, filed a complaint with the police.
According to a report in The Times of India, the iPhone 6 was bought from a shop at the Galleria market in Gurgaon on June 18 (two days before it exploded). Yadav claimed to have paid Rs 60,000 for this grey-coloured 64GB version of iPhone 6.
Talking While Driving, a Boon Here
Though, it is generally regarded as unsafe and unlawful to talk over the phone while driving, even if you are using a handsfree device, but fortunately for Yadav, that is what helped him get away from what could have been a disaster for him.
Incidentally, he was driving on MG Road and talking over the phone with a friend, but using a handsfree device when suddenly he noticed sparks in the phone. He rolled down his car window and threw the phone out, which exploded immediately after it hit the ground, as reported by The Times of India.
My face could have got burn as the phone exploded in a matter of seconds. When I threw the phone, the call was on and the battery was around 70%.
– Kishen Yadav told The Times of India
