At least 11 people died after a boat they were in capsized on Friday morning, 13 September, during Ganesh Visarjan, news agency ANI reported.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has directed officials for a magisterial inquiry into the boat capsizing incident, and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the families of deceased.
“Strict action will be taken against those found responsible for the incident,” he said.
According to the report, 16 people were on the boat. So far, 11 bodies have been recovered and five people rescued.
“We have recovered 11 bodies till now,” additional Superintendent of Police Akhil Patel told ANI.
Patel said that the incident occurred sometime around 4:30 am and at least 40 police personnel are present at the spot. A State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) team was also present on the spot.
