1. Hoax Call Claims Bomb in CM’s House, Man Held
A 32-year-old man was arrested for making a hoax call to the police control room on Monday night, claiming that he had planted a bomb at Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s residence in JP Nagar. He told the police that he was depressed over the CM not allotting a free house to him.
JP Nagar police arrested Mansoor, a native of Sedam in Kalaburagi district for making the hoax call. Mansoor was staying in a temporary shed at Kudlu. He had come to the city four years ago, and was working as daily wage labourer.
A senior police officer said that Mansoor called the police control room on Monday around 9.43 pm, claiming to be one Gopal, and told the police that he had planted a bomb at the CM’s residence.

2. Two Bengaluru Teens Killed After BMTC bus With Faulty Brakes Rams Into Them
Two pre-university college students were killed on Tuesday morning after being hit by a BMTC bus on Mysuru Road. The incident occurred at 8 am in the morning when Chandrakanta (16) and Yadu Kumar SY (15), students of BBMP Kasturba PU College, KB Nagar on Mysuru Road were waiting near the KSRTC Satellite bus stand trying to cross the road.
A BMTC bus travelling from Mysuru Road to Kempegowda Bus Stand in Majestic rammed into two boys after a reported brake failure. The incident took place close to Gopalan Mall on Mysuru Road.
Chandrakanth was a first year pre-university student while Yadu Kumar was a second year pre-university student and both were pursuing commerce. While Chandrakanth worked part-time at the Gopalan mall, his mother works as a domestic help. Yadu Kumar delivered newspapers in the morning before attending college.

3. K’taka MLA Checks Woman’s Pic in Assembly, Claims Proposal for Son
N Mahesh, Karnataka's lone MLA from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) found himself in a spot of bother on Monday, 17 December. He was caught on camera scrolling through a picture of a woman on his mobile phone during the winter Assembly session in Belagavi.
When he was confronted about it by reporters, he accused the media of sensationalising the issue.
Speaking to reporters, he said, "Yes, I took the phone inside. It was a mistake. I will never do it again. But what kind of journalism is this that you are sensationalising everything. I am searching for a girl for an alliance for my son. My friend sent me a photo of a girl. Please don't portray this in wrong light and play up the issue. This is very unfortunate. I am sorry to say this".

4. BJP Flays Govt over 'Apathy' Towards North Karnataka
The opposition BJP Tuesday hit out at the H D Kumaraswamy led coalition government over its alleged apathy towards northern parts of Karnataka and warned it about the "consequences".
Initiating the debate on issues relating to north Karnataka in the Assembly, which is holding the winter session here, senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar accused the Congress-JD(S)coalition of neglecting their own leaders from the region.
He pointed out that Congress' S R Patil and JD(S)' Basawaraj Horatti from north Karnataka were seen as contenders for the post of legislative council chairman, but the grand old party sprung a surprise at the last minute by nominating Prathap Chandra Shetty for the post.

5. Bengaluru Corporator's Son Arrested in Connection With a Murder Case
The son of a Bengaluru corporator was arrested on Monday in connection with the murder of a notorious rowdy sheeter, police said. Sooraj, the son of Hombegowda Nagar Corporator Chandrappa D, was taken into custody and produced in a local court for his alleged involvement in the murder of Vijay Kumar.
On 4 December, Vijay Kumar, 38, also known as Lakkasandra Viji or Cable Viji, was found dead in his office at around 9.30 pm. According to police, he was hacked to death by six to seven men after chilli powder was sprinkled in his eyes. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
Some Gowda GU, assistant commissioner of police, Madiwala, said, “The two of them, Vijay Kumar and Sooraj, had business dealings with each other. Vijay Kumar is believed to have owed money to Sooraj for long. The two had a public fight among them during election time.”
