A gangrape in the outskirts of Bengaluru, which took place over six months ago, has come to light, after the pregnant survivor lodged a complaint on Wednesday. The 22-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a gang of four men, who were blackmailing her using a video of her boyfriend and her.
Following the complaint, five people including her boyfriend have been arrested by the Bengaluru rural police.
Amit Singh, superintendent of police, Bengaluru rural, said the alleged rape took place in April, in Gaurenahalli village near Anekal Taluk in Bengaluru rural. The officer added that the survivor didn’t come out for six months fearing that the suspects would release the video.

In April, the gang had spotted the survivor and her boyfriend in an isolated location outside the Gaurenahlli village. They ambushed the couple and took their videos.
A day after, the gang called the couple and asked them to come to an isolated location outside the village. They threatened to release the video on WhatsApp, if she didn’t agree to their demands. Fearing the consequences, she went to the location and the four men raped her.
According to the police, she didn’t tell anyone about the rape incident. However, when her family learnt that she was pregnant, she told them about the entire episode and they convinced her to go to cops.

The police have identified the four men, who raped her as Murgesh, Vikas, Ramesh and Raju, all in their twenties.

The Police have also arrested the boyfriend of the girl, after the girl raised suspicions over his involvement in the entire episode. “We are currently questioning the boyfriend and the four accused. More details on the conspiracy behind the gang rape will come out after this,” said the police.
