An assistant sub-inspector allegedly committed suicide in the City Armed Reserve grounds in Adugodi soon after his shift ended on Saturday night.
ASI Dayananda Sagarm, 58, stated in a note that he took the step since he could not find his missing son for months.
Dayananda was deployed near the residence of former Prime Minister and JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda in Padmanabhanagar.
After his shift ended at 9 pm, he returned to the CAR grounds in Adugodi and hanged himself.
He had only a few months left until his retirement. Police officials at Adugodi Police Station divulged that Dayananda's son Ganesh Sagar's disappearance was what pushed him to take the step.
He had two sons and his younger son had left home in February after an argument with him. He believed that his son would come back, but even months later, there was no progress in the case. He has said in a note that this was the main reason he decided to take his life.Police Official, Adugodi Police Station
In his suicide note, Sagar had stated that he could not bear the pain of his son’s disappearance.
Nobody is responsible for my death. My younger son Ganesh left home four months ago and never returned. I’m not able to bear this pain and decided to commit suicide. Excuse me.Dayananda Sagarm.
Ganesh, who used to run a coffee shop in Jayanagar, incurred losses leading to the falling out with Dayananda. Following this, Ganesh left the house in February.
Dayananda later filed a missing person complaint after he was unable to contact his son for days.
The police had made no headway in the case even months after his disappearance.
On Saturday, Kiran, the older son was unable to reach Dayananda. A worried Kiran rushed to Adugodi to find his father's bike parked in the godown near CAR grounds. He was later found hanging in the CAR office.
