A retired Indian Army Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), Mohammad Sanaullah, on Saturday, 31 August, was not included in the final list of the Assam National Register of Citizens (NRC) as his appeal against the Foreigner's Tribunal has been pending in the Gauhati High Court, Hindustan Times reported.

The retired Army officer told the daily that he will plan his next move after the high court makes its decision on his appeal.

The report said that Sanaullah was hoping for a last minute inclusion in the final list, but that did not happen. Along with him, the names of his daughters, and his son are also missing from the final list, the report added.

Sanaullah was declared a foreigner in 2008. He was sent to a detention camp in May and was released after the Gauhati High Court granted him bail.
