Delhi government has slashed power tariff by 50% for consumption upto 400 units per month today. The government has also announced 20,000 litres of free water to every household per month.
This will benefit around 90% of the population in the capital.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
However, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the water tariff will be charged after a household consumes in excess of 20,000 litres.
Sisodia said consumers getting free water will not be required to pay for sewer charges.
On the free power scheme, Sisodia said government will review the power rates after the CAG completes its audit of the accounts of power discoms.
AAP had made these promises in their election manifesto. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had introduced the free water scheme in his previous stint as Chief Minister too, but it was discontinued after he resigned.
