When the news of Arnab Goswami resigning as the editor-in-chief of Times Now broke, there was much such speculation on what his next venture would be. To put all such speculations to rest, former Newshour anchor Arnab Goswami announced his new venture on Thursday.
Without revealing too much information he told The Quint:
My venture is called ‘Republic’. I seek the support of the people of India.
The former editor-in-chief and president of Times Now said his PR agency will make a formal announcement soon.
Earlier in his speeches, Arnab had hinted that he was interested in an ‘independent’ media venture.
“Independent media is going to thrive,”Goswami had said when he announced his decision to resign, adding, “The game has just begun”, perhaps to indicate that he would not be quitting television media or the news industry.
This phrase was repeated at least 15 times during the hour long speech, according to people privy to the announcement’s details.
He formally resigned from his positions at Times Now on 1 November.
