Army Captain Found Dead In Delhi’s Vasant Vihar, Note Recovered

An Indian Army captain ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his official accommodation in Vasant Vihar on Friday, 22 February, police said.

According to The Indian Express, a suicide note was recovered from the spot, which indicates the 47-year-old was “stressed”, police added.

“I am honest and innocent… People have misused my innocence, but I will not allow them to misuse me anymore… I love my family; happy birthday, my son.”
The suicide note said.

The note also names a person, according to the police. He will be questioned.

The army officer, Jayantha Kumar M was posted with the central base post office, police informed. “The incident came to light after police received a call at around 1 pm. They rushed to the spot and found him hanging using a bedsheet. He used to live alone,” a senior police officer told The Indian Express.

Police said the suicide note will be sent to Forensic Science Laboratory to confirm the handwriting. The team also collected samples from the room including his mobile phone.

According to the police, the body has been shifted to the Safdarjung hospital mortuary until autopsy and family members have been informed.
