Anshu also holds the record for being the only woman in the world to have climbed Mt Everest twice within 10 days.

Indian mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa has created history by becoming the first Indian woman to scale the Mt Everest four times in 6 years.

Sources say that she might attempt to climb the peak for a fifth time depending on the conditions.

With her latest achievement, Anshu has also become the first woman in the world to have climbed the Mt Everest four times.

Jamsenpa is a mother of two children and hails from Bomdila town in Arunachal Pradesh.

The 32-year-old mountaineer, Anshu Jamsenpa started her climb on Saturday 13 May and reached the highest peak on 16 May, where she unfurled the national flag along with 17 other climbers.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Anshu and praised her for making the state and the nation so proud.

I wish you all success in your future endeavour and may you keep making our nation proud. I have been told that Jamsenpa is motivated and energised enough to try a double ascent if conditions remain favourable. I wish her success and may the Almighty bless her to accomplish her dream. It will be a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh and India.

Prasar Bharati, India’s largest broadcasting agency, took to Twitter to congratulate Anshu on her historic achievement:

Previously, Anshu had held the record for being the only woman in the world to have climbed Mt Everest twice within 10 days. She had conquered the peak twice between 12 and 21 May 2011, and made her third successful attempt on 18 May 2013.
