The controversial encounter of the eight SIMI activists in Bhopal on Monday has raised many questions. But with the killing of the suspects in the encounter, questions over the 2014 twin blasts at the Chennai Central railway station will now remain unanswered. Two of the accused in the case were killed in the MP Police’s operation on Monday.

The third accused in the case was killed in an encounter in Andhra Pradesh in 2015.

The Chennai Central blast case, which was being investigated by the CB-CID, will now be closed. The blasts killed one person and left 14 other passengers injured. This is the only terror case that was being handled by the special investigation division (SID) wing of the CB-CID police. Usually, such cases are transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Aijajudeen, one of the three accused, was killed in an encounter with the Telangana police at Nalgonda in April 2015. Zakir Hussain and Mehaboob were gunned down after they allegedly escaped from Bhopal Central Jail.
