Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, while speaking in Lok Sabha, demanded that National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah, who is also a senior parliamentarian, be released from detention and allowed to attend the ongoing Winter Session.
He also said that European MPs being invited to visit the Valley is a massive disrespect to Indian parliamentarians.
"Aap Europe se kiraye ke tattu ko Kashmir le jaate hain, yeh sansad ke liye apmaan hai. (You bringing in rented sycophants from Europe, it’s a massive disrespect to Indian legislators)," he said.
Chowdhury, while speaking in the lower house, said that there is no reason to detain Abdullah, and that it is his constitutional right to attend Parliament sessions.
"Ye kya zulm hai (What kind of torture is this)? We want him in the Parliament."
Amid chants to release Farooq Abdullah and against the abrogation of Article 370, he also raised the issue of the Gandhi family’s SPG security cover being removed.
