Over 50 Passengers Injured
Over 50 passengers have been injured in the train derailment mishap near Kanpur. While 42 of the injured have been admitted to a district hospital in Kanpur Rural, 12 of the seriously injured have been admitted to the Hallet Hospital.
There were unconfirmed reports that the railway guard was among those injured.
Financial Assistance
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured in the mishap and Rs 25,000 to those who suffered minor wounds.
No Deaths: Railway Ministry
The Ministry of Railways has clarified that there has been no death reported yet after the train’s derailment whereas 44 people have been injured.
This conflicts with earlier reports of 2 people being declared dead after the mishap.
