You Know Things Are Bad When Air Toxicity Is 14 Times the Standard

Delhi’s air is 3 to 14 times more polluted than the prescribed limits. The pollution levels in terms of particulate matter (PM 10 and 2.5), which are among the most harmful pollutants, were recorded at 14 times the limit at Anand Vihar, seven times the limit at RK Puram and four times the limit at Punjabi Bagh.

These figures are from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee’s 24-hour real-time air quality monitoring data, according to The Hindu.

China’s capital Beijing, which is experiencing similar pollution levels, had on Monday issued its first red alert on air pollution since 2013, taking tougher and immediate measures to deal with the problem. Read more about these measures here.
