The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has set up two medical boards to ascertain the exact cause of the deaths of medical student Namrata Damor and journalist Akshay Singh. It has been almost half a year that the agency has started probing the case and this decision might help them end the contradictory forensic results.

The medical boards will constitute experts from premier medical institutions who will coordinate with the doctors who carried out the initial forensic tests of Namrata and Akshay.

After 40 people related to the Vyapam case died under mysterious circumstances, the Supreme Court handed this case over to the CBI.

The CBI on 17 July last year registered a murder case in connection with Indore-resident and 19-year-old Damor’s death. Namrata’s body was found railway tracks near Maksi station in Ujjain district on 7 January 2012. She was found to have secured admission illegally through the pre-medical test conducted under Madhya Pradesh’s Vyapam.

In a related incident, the CBI has registered a preliminary enquiry into the death death of journalist Akshay Singh.
