Retired army General and Minister of Development of North Eastern Region VK Singh has irked of Hindi littérateurs by his comment on the annual Hindi Literature festival, according to a report on The New Indian Express.
His ministry will be organising the fest for the first time this year.
In a TV report, VK Singh said that the three-day literature summit – which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday – will be different this year as it will focus on propagating and enhancing the language, and not just literature.
He went on to say that some people think they can come, talk about literature, eat, drink alcohol and be done with it. But, he stated, that won’t be the case this time.
General sahib must explain if the armymen earn their respect due to their sense of service and sacrifice, or for drinking the liquor they get on concessional rates.

Singh had shared his pearls of wisdom about the media in the recent past, calling them “presstitutes”.
