- Minister of State for External Affairs Gen (retd) VK Singh has suggested renaming Akbar Road in Lutyens Zone after Mewar ruler Maharana Pratap.
- Praising the 16th century Rajput king as “truly secular” and a “man of masses”, Singh has written to the Ministry of Urban Development to rechristen the road after him, also adding that the move would give recognition to the ruler.
- The suggestion comes amid reports that Haryana government too had sought the renaming. Last year, the government had renamed Aurangzeb Road after former president, late APJ Abdul Kalam.
