- Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat reached Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Headquarters at 11 am on Tuesday, in connection with the CD sting probe. He left after 5 hours of questioning.
- “As a law abiding citizen I will appear before CBI so that people won’t get an impression that I’m trying to avoid the agency,” said Rawat. He responded to the allegations against him and added after the questioning:
I don’t have to produce any proof for my innocence, I have not done anything wrong. I have taken the decision and my party has also suggested to cooperate with the CBI. Earlier also CBI had called me, but it was feasibly impossible for me to come on those dates because of the on-going floor test. Whatever talks happened today (24 May) are between CBI and me. I cannot share this as the matter is in the court.
- The controversial sting allegedly shows Rawat negotiating a deal to win back the support of the rebel Congress leaders in the Uttarakhand floor test.

CBI commented on the case and said:
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr Harish Rawat was examined today (24 May) in connection with inquiry in the alleged sting operation. Further questioning will continue. He will be called again.
According to CBI sources, since Harish Rawat could not furnish full and complete details on several issues, he has been called again for examination on 7 June.
