New information about the Gurdaspur attack has come to light. The Indian Express reports that US has presented Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif with evidence that the strike was carried out from his country.
The evidence was presented to Sharif during his recent four-day visit to the US. According to the report, when presented with the GPS-based evidence Pakistani diplomats insisted that “the strike had nothing to do with their country”.
The report says,
‘Pakistani diplomats initially insisted that the Gurdaspur strike had nothing to do with their country. But when the US insisted that the technical data was irrefutable, they argued that there was no official complicity in facilitating it,’ said a Washington-based diplomat.
The Indian Express reports, Indian intelligence agencies had determined earlier that the GPS sets used by the attackers were first turned on in Pakistan, six days before the Gurdaspur attack. The US is yet to provide India with more information on the Garmin-made GPS sets.
