New Delhi, March 19 (IANS) Among the four judicial members of the Lokpal panel appointed by President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday, two are the children of former Chief Ministers.
Justice Dilip B. Bhosale, who served as Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, is son of Maharashtra's former Chief Minister Babasaheb Bhosale.
Hailing from a family of freedom fighters, Justice Bhosale's uncle Shivajirao Bhosale was Vice-Chancellor of Marathwada University, Maharashtra.
Justice Abhilasha Kumari, chairperson of the Gujarat State Human Rights Commission, is daughter of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and married into the erstwhile royal family of Bhavnagar, Gujarat.
A Judge in the Gujarat High Court, she later became first woman Chief Justice on the Manipur High Court in 2018.
Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty and Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi are the two other judicial members of the panel, headed by retired Supreme Court judge Pinaki Chandra Ghose.
Justice Mohanty, who was served as Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court, hails from a family of eminent jurists. His father, Jugal Kishore Mohanty was a Judge of the Orissa High Court and later became the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court.
Justice Tripathi, who served as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court, has also served as an Additional Advocate General for Bihar before being elevated as an Additional Judge of Patna High Court.
