The police reported that two persons were injured this morning when a can bomb exploded in a market in the Guptipara area in Hooghly, West Bengal.

The blast took place when an employee of a hardware shop in the market moved an old can he found kept in front of the shop. The employee Tapas Rajbangshi, who had come to open the shop, and another person, Nitai Das, were injured in the explosion, the police said.

The injured were admitted to Balagarh primary health centre. Senior police officials reached the spot and an investigation is on. This incident caused several shop owners to down their shutters and many others to not open their shops at all in panic.
