Senior Congress leader Rajendra Kumar Dhawan passed away on Monday, 6 August. He was 81 years old.
Dhawan had served as a private secretary to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He breathed his last at the BL Kapur hospital in Delhi, where he was admitted last Tuesday due to age-related ailments, The Indian Express reported.
Various politicians and public figures took to Twitter to pay their homage to the veteran leader.
“We're saddened to hear about the passing away of RK Dhawan, a valued member of the Congress party. Our thought and prayers are with his family tonight,” the Congress party tweeted.
