Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba said on Saturday that the primary investigations found that Scorpene data leak did not take place in India but at Direction des Constructions Navales Services (DCNS) office in France.

A high-level committee probing the Scorpene leak will check if any mitigation measures are required based on their report, Lanba added.

French shipbuilder DCNS, which won a $38.06 billion contract to build Australia’s next generation submarines earlier this year, suffered a massive data leak in August, raising doubts about the security of one of the world’s biggest defence projects.
