- The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that vehicular exhausts have ‘adverse impacts’ on glaciers and clarified that it could not increase the number of petrol and diesel vehicles in the ecologically sensitive Rohtang Pass area without the relevant data.
- The bench, for the time being, did not grant any relief to the Him-Aanchal Taxi Operators Union which sought to increase the numbers of vehicles allowed to ply on the Manali-Rohtang Pass route.
- The National Green Tribunal recently said that in a day, 800 petrol vehicles would be allowed to go to Rohtang instead of the 600 that were permitted in its earlier order.
