West Bengal minister Madan Mitra who, was arrested in connection with the Saradha scam 10 months ago, was granted conditional bail by Alipore court on Saturday.
Mitra, who handles both transport and sports portfolios, was arrested by CBI in 2014 because he was suspected of deriving undue financial advantage from the chit fund group. As per a report in DNA, he would have to furnish a personal bond of Rs 2 lakhs to get the bail.
Charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and misappropriation of funds were also levied against him. He was also holding a post in the Saradha Group of Companies at the time of his arrest.
