- The one-man Commission of Inquiry constituted by the HRD Ministry to look into the circumstances of research scholar Rohith Vemula’s death at the Hyderabad Central University will submit its report by August 1.
- Vemula’s suicide triggered a huge political storm with opposition parties launching a massive attack at the Union Government over the issue.
The Justice (retd) Ashok Kumar Roopanwal Commission has met the stakeholders and will require three months more to draw a conclusion.
- Earlier, following Vemula’s death, the ministry in January this year decided to constitute a Judicial Commission, to review the entire sequence of events and the circumstances and to establish the facts and correctives in the context of the University.
