At least six people were injured as protesters clashed with law enforcement agencies during a protest against the death of truck driver Zahid Rasool Bhat in a petrol bomb attack on October 9.

Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leader Yasin Malik was detained, after he visited the victim’s family, for leading a rally in a village in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir.

24-year-old Bhat was killed after a mob hurled petrol bomb on three trucks in the district after carcasses of cows were found on the streets in the region

Even as the police said there was no restriction on the movement of people in Anantnag, security personnel were deployed in sensitive areas to maintain law and order.

Clashes between forces and protesters broke out in Batengoo, the native village of Zahid, Goriwan-Bijbehara, Anantnag town, Qoimoh and Khudwani in Kulgam town, police said.

Yasin Malik was detained along with four others shortly after they visited the residence of slain trucker Zahid.
