A police officer was caught on camera repeatedly slapping a girl during a liquor raid in Lucknow yesterday. The girl was allegedly involved in the manufacturing of local liquor.
Sub inspector Santosh Tiwari, station officer of Aashiana police station, slapped the girl twice even as she asked him to stop.
According to a Times of India report, the excise department – acting on a tip-off – was raiding the house of Rajendra Rawat for illegal manufacturing of liquor.
Police had, on earlier occasions as well, found local liquor being manufactured in Rawat’s house in Usari village in Bangla Bazaar market.
While the officer in question has refused to comment on the issue, the circle officer of Lucknow Cantonment area, DySP Harendra Kumar has stated that the matter will be probed.
