A police inspector allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself dead using his service revolver at his residence in Sangli, on Thursday morning, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Sadahari Gadade (53), posted with CID in Sangli, said police.
The incident took place at around 6:30 am, said police.
Police have recovered a suicide note from the officer’s home, they said.
Another police officer, on condition of anonymity, told The Indian Express that Gadade wrote about “frustration over issues of promotion in the service and treatment from some senior officers” in his suicide note.
The body was sent to Miraj Mission Hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to the family, said police.
