Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that phase 2 of the ‘odd-even’ scheme will be implemented from April 15-30. Like last time, women and two-wheelers will be exempted from the scheme. VIPs and VVIPs remain in the exempted category, as per public poll.
In the media briefing, he said that they had conducted a survey asking people whether ‘odd-even’ should make a comeback.
“81% of respondents said that ‘odd-even’ should be brought back,”
said Kejriwal. The majority of people who took part in the survey suggested that
the dates for phase 2 should be around the time the Board examinations end.
The major portion of the Board examinations gets over by April 12. The exams for the minor papers will be conducted after that and I am sure it will not be affected.Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister
The AAP convener was also asked by people to make it
permanent since it reduced traffic significantly. However, Kejriwal said, “We
cannot make it permanent until public transport has been made better.”
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and Transport Minister Gopal Rai were present at the media briefing.
