Chennai, March 23 (IANS) DMK President M.K. Stalin on Saturday said Chief Minister K. Palaniswami has pledged his party AIADMK to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to escape corruption complaints.
Addressing a rally at Harur in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu, Stalin said Palaniswami has pledged AIAMDK to BJP President Amit Shah and the pledge cannot be redeemed.
Stalin said Palaniswami has forgetten AIADMK founder late M.G. Ramachandran and his successor as party General Secretary late J. Jayalalithaa and considers Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah gods.
Recalling Jayalalithaa's 2014 slogan `Modi or this Lady' the DMK President wondered how Palaniswami can claim that he runs the government on the lines of Jayalalithaa when he has aligned the party with the PMK that had criticised her strongly.
Referring to Palaniswami's claim that the state will be on the growth path if the alliance partner forms the government at the Centre, Stalin said even now the AIADMK and the BJP were in alliance and the state was not on the growth path.
Stalin said even the AIADMK's poll manifesto has said the economy has slowed and the prices are on the rise.
He also wondered whether the state government could secure -- relief for damages suffered due to cyclone Gaja; exemption from the common entrance exam for medical colleges; release of the seven life convicts in the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
According to Stalin, after aligning with the AIADMK, former Union Minister and PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss has lost his majestic look, speed and attractiveness.
"After claiming to be the next Chief Minister (during 2016 Assembly elections), are you not ashamed to seek votes standing next to them," Stalin posed to Ramadoss.
