An unidentified Pakistani intruder carrying a large quantity of heroin was shot dead by BSF personnel along the Indo-Pak border in Bherowal.
The intruder was crossing into Indian territory during the wee hours today. Border Security Force night patrolling team saw some suspicious movement along the barbed fencing at the border outpost in Bherowal, a BSF official said.
The troops opened fire when the Pakistani intruder ignored their warning to surrender and kept moving towards them. In the morning, the BSF launched a search operation during which the body of the intruder was found along with nine kilograms of heroin which has a street price of Rs 45 crore, the official said.
