The quantum of airtime for Indian content in Pakistan will mimic the format India has adopted for the airing of Pakistani content, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has said.
PEMRA on Monday decided that it will only allow airtime to Indian content if India allows to air Pakistani content, Dawn online reported. The regulatory authority also said that the Pakistani government has been requested to schedule the airing of Indian content, conditional with that of Pakistan's in India.
Around three million Indian DTH decoders are being sold in the country. We not only want this sale stopped but will also ask the relevant agencies to trace the money trail, to determine the mode of payments made to Indian dealers selling these decoders in Pakistan.Absar Alam, PEMRA Chairman
The body also said that from 15 October, action will be taken against airing of unauthorised content and TV channels in the country.
