Speaking on the MCD strike called by the sanitation workers in Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sought for a CBI probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds in the three municipal corporations.
In 2012-13, the NDMC got Rs. 526 crores, it got Rs. 556 crores the next year, and Rs. 545 crores the year after that. This year they got 893 crores. An additional 100 crores were given by the government to the NDMC. Where has the money gone?Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi Chief Minister
Kejriwal, in a press conference in Bengaluru, said that this is a clear case of mismanagement of fund and corruption. The Aam Aadmi Party convener also targetted the BJP and said “while BJP was playing politics, we were cleaning up the city.”
Kejriwal offered Rs 550 crore to two municipal corporations, namely East and North branches of the civic body to pay off the salaries of protesters.
However, general secretary of the United Front of MCD Employees, Rajendra Mewati, speaking exclusively to The Quint said:
We will not accept this amount because this is given on a loan. After two months, the situation will return. Thus, the strike will be on till the time our demands are met. We will wait till the next Delhi High Court hearing which is scheduled on February 10.Rajendra Mewati, general secretary, United Front of MCD Employees
