Gaya Road Rage: Nitish Meets Victim’s Family a Month After Tragedy

Sachdeva was allegedly shot dead by JD(U) MLC’s son for overtaking his vehicle near police line in Gaya district.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday met the family members of Aditya Sachdeva who was shot dead by son of JD(U) Member of Legislative Council (MLC ) in a road rage case last month.

Kumar had directed Senior Superintendent of Police Garima Mallik to appeal to the court for trial in the case on a “day-to-day basis”

Kumar expressing shock at the sordid episode while sitting with the parents of the victim, said:

Samajh me nahi atta hai samaj kaha jaa raha hai...vahan ko side nahi dene paar bachhe ka haatya kaar diya, (I fail to understand where society is heading... a child was killed for not giving way to a vehicle).

After arriving at Gaya airport from Patna, Kumar went straight to the members of the boy’s family to offer his condolences to kin of the Class 12 boy.

Sachdeva was allegedly shot dead by JD(U) MLC Manorama Devi’s son Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky Yadav for overtaking his vehicle near Police Line in Bihar’s Gaya district on 8 May. The accused, Rocky, and his father Bindi Yadav are still incarcerated.

The JD(U) MLC, who has been suspended by the party, was released from jail after receiving bail from Patna High Court. He was accused of storing liquor bottles at his residence, which were seized during a raid by the police.
