Karnataka’s Mysuru was on Monday voted as India’s cleanest city under the Swachh Sarvekshan campaign based on sanitation surveys done across Indian cities. Chandigarh, Tiruchirapalli and the New Delhi Municipal Council were the other three names topping the list of 73 cities surveyed for sanitation and hygiene conditions as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Delhi had fared poorly last year being on the 398th position!
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency Varanasi is one of the dirtiest as it was ranked 65 due to poor sanitation facilities. Dhanbad has been found the dirtiest city by the survey.
