The Ministry of Urban Development on Friday announced that it will unveil the list of India’s cleanest cities based on the 73 city survey conducted by the Ministry to evaluate the on-ground progress of Swachh Bharat Mission.

Urban Development Minister, Venkaiah Naidu, will announce the survey findings on February 15 at 3 pm. The survey named Swachh Survekshan, was conducted to access the sanitation and hygiene conditions in 73 major urban cities.

The survey, since the launch of Swachh Bharat Mission in October 2014, aims to serve as a report on the work carried out by different municipals under Swachh Bharat Mission. The rankings would be an evaluation of progress made in the following areas:

1. Strategy for Open Defecation Free town (ODF) and Integrated Solid Waste Management (SWM).
2. Information, Education and Behaviour Change Communication (IEBC) activity.
3. Sweeping, door-to-door collection and transportation (of solid waste).
4. Processing and disposal (of solid waste).
5. Provision of public & community toilet seats.
6. Construction of household individual toilets.
